About the Manchester Engagement Team
Manchester Mind supports Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust in the delivery of assertive outreach, through the Manchester Engagement Team.
Assertive outreach is a statutory service commissioned to provide intensive support to people who have a diagnosis of psychosis, have had a number of admissions to hospital and who find it difficult to engage with mental health services and may have other complex issues.
The aims of assertive outreach are to try and make the connection with people again and support them to manage their mental health through a number of ways which might also include helping with practical problems such as housing, benefits or debts and support people to try to get involved in things they enjoy.
I can’t tell you how very grateful for all you have done for us. I will miss you very much. Thank you for being there.
Referral to assertive outreach would usually take place through the Community Mental Health Team or on discharge from a hospital admission.
