The evaluation methodology was created to collect mainly qualitative data and provide those involved with the project with a structured way of contributing their experiences, perceptions and reflections.
The project’s monitoring data has also been used where relevant, particularly quantitative outcomes data. Wherever possible this has been reviewed with project staff. The data presented is for the three years June 2021 to May 2024.
The process has involved:
- Review of project documents including reports to funders
- Meetings with key staff at each partner organisation – Manchester Mind, CHAC, MRSN
- Meetings with volunteers: Online/telephone interviews with 5 volunteers for case stories (2 CHAC, 1 Manchester Mind, 1 MRSN, 1 community organisation); focus group (4 MVAP volunteers); attendance at MVAP volunteer meeting (11 MVAP volunteers)
- Consultation with external stakeholders: Online interviews with 6 organisations, including: Greater Manchester Law Centre, Macc (Manchester’s third sector infrastructure agency), Citizens Advice Manchester, Manchester City Council (2 departments), Rainbow Haven
In the evaluation reporting, all people have given permission to use their quotations, volunteer case stories (all of the names have been changed), and organisational case studies.
