Attendance Allowance is similar to Personal Independence Payments, as you will be awarded this benefit based on how your condition affects your day-to-day life. If a medical assessment confirms that your condition affects your ability to carry out daily tasks, you may be awarded either the lower or higher rate of this benefit.
Mental Health
If you have a mental health condition and you are over the retirement age, then you may be able to claim this benefit. If you go into hospital when you claim this benefit, your payments may be suspended after 28 days. When you leave hospital, the benefit should go back into payment.
