Gardening Sessions
Events Date: Wednesday and Friday | Location: Manchester Mind Allotment

“This project has provided a wonderful chance to explore green space in Manchester and meet new people from diverse backgrounds, strengthening community connections.”
Spending time outside and enjoying nature is really good for your mental and physical health. Our supported gardening sessions are a fun way to meet new people and learn some new skills. People tell us that they feel less isolated and that their confidence grows after taking part.
The sessions are ideal for you if you need a bit of extra help recovering after a period of poor mental health, crisis or difficulty. They are also good if you want to boost your wellbeing and to get outside in the fresh air in a safe and supportive setting. Gardening is proven to help with insomnia, anxiety, loneliness, low mood and stress related illnesses.
We want to ensure that our garden is accessible to those people who need it most and an inclusive and welcoming space for all those with a Manchester postcode.
We are currently partnering with Safety4Sisters to ensure more people from racialised backgrounds feel supported to attend our garden. If you are from a community that experiences racial inequality, please do consider our garden as we have been working hard to learn how best to ensure our garden is inclusive of all cultures and identities, and that it will feel safe and supportive for you.
If you want to take part, and enjoy the spring and summer with us, please get in touch and we will invite you to a taster session, to see if you enjoy it.
We offer everyone 6-8 sessions, which are led by allotment support workers and volunteers and we run them on Wednesday and Friday. We will send you detailed information before your first visit, so you know what to expect.
