Do One Thing: Rachael

Cartoon illustration of booklet

I’m Rachael, Finance Manager, here at Manchester Mind.

The ‘One Thing’ I’m going to do for World Mental Health Day is to wrap a self-care book up in a plastic wallet and leave it on a bench or somewhere public for somebody to find at random.

If they find it, it is them who is meant to find it, and I’ve no doubt that it will put a smile on their face and the content will help support them in some way.

A similar thing happened to me early on in maternity leave when we were in lockdown, it was a challenging time during the winter lockdown with a new born baby, one day we went out for a walk and I found a book that somebody had left intentionally on a bench in the park with a kind note inserted in the front of the book, it really cheered me up and was a good read.

We are marking the event by encouraging you to “Do One Thing” to support your own mental health and for the mental health of those around us. Read through some of our suggested things and don’t forget to share your #DoOneThing with us if you can.
