Why are Members important to Manchester Mind? Members bring real benefits to our charity. We aim is to develop a membership scheme that can shape our strategic direction and objectives. We encourage active participation in all areas of our work, and seek to establish a culture that supports each individual’s contribution, whilst maintaining the purpose of our charity.
Who can be a Member? People who use our services (aged 16+), carers of service users, current volunteers, and any individual (aged 16+) with an active interest in our charity who supports our vision, values and aims.
How do you become a Member? Membership is FREE and lasts 12 months.
Simply print and complete a Membership Application Form or request a form by post (email@example.com).
When your application is approved by the Board you receive a welcome letter. We need to be able to contact our members as it’s a legal requirement, so maintain a members' database. Data is only used for our purposes, and never shared with Third Parties. An important part of being a member is to attend our Annual General Meeting (AGM) where you are entitled to vote. AGM invites are sent to all members each year, together with regular newsletter updates.
What are the rights & responsibilities of Members? Manchester Mind is a charity that requires its members, volunteers and staff to meet its purpose, especially regarding equality, diversity and inclusion. All members have the right to vote at the AGM, approve previous AGM minutes, elect Trustees, endorse accounts and approve the appointment of auditors. Members also vote on important matters, such as changes to the Memorandum & Articles of Association, or strategic direction of the charity. Members can attend the AGM in person or can vote by proxy.
