Building a Healthy Future is a course aimed at improving people’s resilience, which is their ability to cope with life’s challenges, now and in the future. Courses are free and take place over six sessions for two hours a week.
The courses aim to improve mood by teaching stress and mood management skills and relaxation techniques, as well as helping people make positive plans, handle their worries and fears and acquire new life skills.
Courses are interactive, engaging and fun. We are currently running two different Building a Healthy Future courses. One is for people with Long-Term Conditions (diabetes, heart disease, muscular skeletal conditions). The other is for people over 55 focusing on wellbeing in retirement. Both courses cover similar tools and skills but each has its own specific topics and themes. We are also looking to extend our resilience work to other groups.

This ‘breathing space’ recording is a mini-meditation giving you an opportunity to look inward, helping you generate awareness about your physical and mental state, and allowing you a chance to take a step back from whatever’s going on around you.
Living with a long-term condition isn’t plain sailing and we don’t always get the support we need when things get tough. This project was originally aimed at helping people with diabetes, heart disease or any muscular skeletal condition (arthritis, back pain, fibromyalgia) improve their psychological wellbeing. We will be extending it to a few more other long-term conditions – contact us for details. You don’t have to be referred by your doctor to attend this course.
